What is ChatGPT Full Intro and Tutorial

What is ChatGPT

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) Chabot developed by OpenAI and released in November 2022. It is built on the OpenAI GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 Large Language Models (LLM) frameworks and programmed Learning Transfer Method ) Using supervised and reinforcement learning methods.

ChatGPT was released as a prototype on November 30, 2022. It has attracted attention for its detailed answers and clear answers to many areas of knowledge. However, its true inequality has been identified as a major flaw. After the launch of ChatGPT, OpenAI is estimated to be worth $29 billion by 2023.

The original version of ChatGPT was based on GPT-3.5. A version based on GPT-4, the latest version of OpenAI, was released on March 14, 2023 and is available to paid subscribers on a limited basis.

Training

ChatGPT is a member of the generative pre-trained (GPT) class of language models. It has been improved in OpenAI’s updated version of GPT-3 known as “GPT 3.5” (transfer learning method.

The process of positive reinforcement is enhanced by observational learning as well as learning through a method called reinforcement learning from the human perspective (RLHF). Both methods use human trainers to improve the model’s performance. In the case of supervised learning, teachers provide an example of discussions played on both sides: the user and the AI assistant. In a move to reinforce the lesson, the human trainers prioritized the answers the model had given in the previous conversation.

These terms have been used to create “reward models” using some version of proximity policy optimization (PPO). Close policy optimization algorithms are an ineffective alternative to relying on policy optimization algorithms.

ChatGPT initially used Microsoft Azure supercomputing hardware, powered by Nvidia GPUs, built specifically for Microsoft OpenAI and costing “millions of dollars”. After the success of ChatGPT, Microsoft significantly improved the OpenAI architecture in 2023.

OpenAI collects data from ChatGPT users for further training and service improvement. Users can upvote or downvote answers they receive on ChatGPT and fill in the text field with additional comments.

Features

While the primary function of a chatbot is to simulate a human conversation, ChatGPT is flexible. For example, it can write and edit computer programs compose music, mobile games, fiction, and student essays; answer test questions (sometimes, depending on the test, at a higher level than the average test taker) write poems and songs simulate a Linux system.

Simulate the conversational environment; Play like tic-tac-toe; and emulate an ATM. The training data for ChatGPT includes human pages and information about Internet phenomena and programming languages such as bulletin board programs and the Python programming language.

Compared to its predecessor, ChatGPT attempts to reduce malicious and fake responses. In one example, while ChatGPT accepts the premise of the prompt “Tell me when Christopher Columbus arrived in the U.S. in 2015” as true, ChatGPT recognizes the inverse nature of the question and enters its answer as a hypothetical. When Columbus Arrived in the US in 2015, Christopher Columbus used information about the voyage and facts about the modern world – including modern ideas about Columbus’s actions.

Unlike most chatbots, ChatGPT remembers previous instructions given during the same conversation. Journalists speculated that this would allow ChatGPT to be used as a personal therapist. To prevent offensive output from being displayed and generated by ChatGPT, OpenAI filters queries via the “Moderation Endpoint” API (a special AI based on GPT), and rejects potentially racist or sexist messages.

In March 2023, OpenAI announced support for ChatGPT plugins. It includes both plugins created by OpenAI, such as web browsing and code annotation, as well as external plugins from developers such as Expedia, OpenTable, Sapier, Shopify, Slack, and Wolfram.

Limitations

ChatGPT has a few limitations. OpenAI admits that ChatGPT “sometimes writes responses that make sense but are incorrect or nonsensical”. This behavior is common in large-scale language simulations and is called “hallucination”. The reward model of ChatGPT, designed for human supervision, can be highly enhanced, thereby disrupting performance, in an example of developmental pathology known as Goodhart’s Law.

ChatGPT has limited information for events after September 2021.

In ChatGPT training, human testers prefer longer answers, regardless of actual insight or factual content. The training data also suffers from algorithmic bias, which can be revealed when ChatGPT responds to instructions that include human descriptions. At one point, ChatGPT made a rap that said women and scientists of color were inferior to white male scientists.

Basic service

ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022 by San Francisco-based OpenAI, creators of DALL·E 2 and OpenAI. The service was initially free to the public, and the company plans to monetize the service over time. As of December 4, 2022, ChatGPT had over one million users. In January 2023, ChatGPT reached over 100 million users, making it the fastest growing consumer app to date. On December 15, 2022, CNBC reported that the service “still experiences occasional outages.” In addition, the free service was reduced.

Response latency during service launch times was better than five seconds in January 2023. The service works best in English, but may work in other languages with varying degrees of success. No official peer-reviewed technical documents have been published on ChatGPT.

Premium ChatGPT Plus

In February 2023, OpenAI began accepting registrations from customers in the United States for its premium service, ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month. The company has promised that an updated, but still “testing” version of ChatGPT will provide access to peak times, no downtime, critical access to new features, and faster response speeds.

GPT-4, released on March 14, 2023, is available via API and to paid ChatGPT users. However, premium users are limited to 100 messages every four hours. Microsoft acknowledged that the Bing chatbot used GPT-4 prior to the official release of GPT-4.
